1. In retrospect it [breaking through police lines] was ineffective because it divided the group, and largely led to our dispersal. On the other hand, it was a successful tactic because after that line was breached they set up another police blockade up the street which ended up shutting down traffic on the Lion’s Gate Bridge’ which was the intended final objective of the march.

2. There were many people not ‘dressed as ninjas’ and several of them were also arrested… there’s tons of images of the entire event at links provided like the VMC, and even the corporate media scum too. Like you said this wasn’t one big black block (although it was overwhelmingly represented). It was a diversity of people exercising a diversity of tactics–at the beginning of the march there were even peta signs.

2. As for the photos, it’s true, no small selection of photographs can adequately “represent” the diverse social body involved in any event. The above photos indeed present only a small portion of the participants, disproportionately depicting those associated with explicitly anarchist anonymous activity–not surprising, given the politics and focus of this website. However, if the reader clicks on any of the links included, he or she can easily get a broader view.

Watching the videos online, that you cited, it doesn’t seem too many people were able to kick and punch their way out of the police line. Can you confirm that this tactic was successful? Also lots of people were not dressed up like ninjas contrary to the photos you choose to present.
