Just curious if Crimethinc would consider joining an anarchist book fair in NYC? We have had book fairs before at ABC NO RIO, not sure if crimethinc made it but it would be great if possible.

Also any chance of getting either of the b&w posters on the wall? The barb wire to birds is beautiful.

Either way this looked amazing!

Oh yeah... I picked some Rolling Thunders at the bookfair.

I've only ever read issue #3. But wow! They seem to get better with each issue I pick up.
The current one is amazing!!! It was also quite a conversation stimulator at the house I stayed at.
GREAT JOB!!!

This was the first anarchist bookfair I've attended. For me personally the bookfair gave me that little nudge I needed to kick out of this "compfty armchair cacoon" I've been in.
Yeah, there is definately ecconomic pinches & our communities feel it too.
But there was many photo-copied zines (as well as a few books even) that were free. Or take whatever you need & give a donation. I walked away with a bunch of great photo-copied literature, of which I plan to continue to circulate once I have the time & means to do so.
I wish we had better rideshare circles. I came to San Francisco from PA. I might lose cool-guy points for this, but I took the Amtrak because I stopped hitchhiking (too long to get into), never hopped freights. Never drove an automobile, never had an urge to. Biking there, no thanx. To each their own. I do what suits me.

But all in all.. I enjoyed the time spent around others with similar ideas. I don't have that with my everyday life. One things for sure.. I feel rejuvinated!

hear hear, Traven. I'd like to see more talk about how anarchist publishing can adapt to avoid traditional consumer-producer models. I think that the "some things cost money, which pays for the free things to be free" model is a good compromise for now, but i'm very much excited to see how we can move forward.

It's strange, because I love bookfairs; I've always been attracted to bazaars and places filled with strange and unique things. But there's got to be more.

Here's another hypothesis about a lower turnout at the bookfair--it's essentially a consumption-based event, and during an economic downturn, people have less to spend on anarchist commodities. This should challenge us to work on developing more anarchist projects that serve to meet people's material needs, rather than that engage with them as consumers.

Not to say there's no place for books and magazines. Some are wailing about the death of anarchist publishing, but it seems clear from our experiences that anarchist publishing is still viable and effective, provided people can keep up with the times.
