Tabling at the Bay Area Anarchist Bookfair

For the 9th consecutive year, we will be attending the Bay Area Anarchist Bookfair in San Francisco (their 14th annual showing) in Golden Gate Park this coming weekend, March 14th and 15th. We’ll have two tables again this year, one chock full of free posters and pamphlets and stickers, and the other with all our books for sale, including the brand new issue of Rolling Thunder. From the Depths will also be playing shows in Oakland this Friday and in Berkeley this Sunday, so it could very well be worth your while to make it out to the bookfair this year. [Above image is from our first bookfair in 2001].

the government has gone off the fucking deep end!

there is a bill in congress right now, HR 875
that will OUTLAW ORGANIC FARMS
OUTLAW FARMERS MARKETS
OUTLAW SEED SAVING!!!

if you have a garden, if you collect seeds, if you’re a farmer who doesnt use pesticides or inject your cows with hormones, you will be a criminal

the bill defines organic food, (food the way evolution or god or whatever made them) as TOXIC
so a real carrot is now a poison.
but the carrot that is bio-genetically modified and spliced, maybe with the new suicide gene is food.

a potato that comes form the earth is now an illegal substance.
but the potato that is made in a monsanto lab (monsato the comapany that made agent orange, and plants that kill themselves after a year, and injections for cows that make pus come into our milk, etc.) is what will now be food.

WAKE UP AND REALIZE WHAT THIS MEANS!!!

IF YOU HAVE SEEDS IN YOUR SHED YOU’RE A CRIMINAL
IF YOU DONT SPRAY YOU GRDEN WITH CHEMICALS YOU’RE A CRIMINAL
IF YOU DONT INJECT YOUR ANIMALS WITH A CHEMICAL COCKTAIL OF HORMONES THEN YOU’RE A CRIMINAL
IF YOU HAVE EVER GONE TO A FARMERS MARKET YOU ARE NOW A CRIMINAL

and you can be fined half a million dollars and thrown in jail!!!!

this bill is less than 2 weeks from being passed!!!

dont beleive me, look it up
HR 875

heres the full text of the bill
http://www.govtrack.us/congress/billtext.xpd?bill=h111-875

and search ofr it and you can see it on fox news, msnbc etc.

WAKE THE FUCK UP!!!

research it so you know its true then spread the word!

I just read the bill. Perhaps I should read it again because as far as I can tell it says nothing about organic food being poison. It simply states that food which is commercially distributed needs to be better regulated to prevent food borne illness.

From what I understand, the main problem with the bill is the ambiguous definition of ” food establishment.”

(13) FOOD ESTABLISHMENT-

(A) IN GENERAL- The term ‘food establishment’ means a slaughterhouse (except those regulated under the Federal Meat Inspection Act or the Poultry Products Inspection Act), factory, warehouse, or facility owned or operated by a person located in any State that processes food or a facility that holds, stores, or transports food or food ingredients.

(B) EXCLUSIONS- For the purposes of registration, the term ‘food establishment’ does not include a food production facility as defined in paragraph (14), restaurant, other retail food establishment, ****nonprofit food establishment in which food is prepared for or served directly to the consumer***, or fishing vessel (other than a fishing vessel engaged in processing, as that term is defined in section 123.3 of title 21, Code of Federal Regulations).

***= not backyard gardens

I would be suspicious but not outraged quite yet. I’ll read the bill again and see if i can find anything fishy.

@ bryer and kristin
I’m already a criminal, what’s a few dozen more charges?
I will continue to refuse to submit to “their” laws, just add renegade gardener to the list of supposed crimes.

I’ll read the bill more thoroughly, but under prohibited acts I didn’t see anything about growing vegetables.

I do love this bit:

(3) recent ongoing events demonstrate that the food safety program at the Food and Drug Administration is not effective in controlling hazards in food coming from farms and factories in the United States and food and food ingredients coming from foreign countries, and these events have adversely affected consumer confidence;

consumers might stop depending so heavily on outside sources and start growing their own food! oh no!

Can anyone hook me up with a WWOOF directory? U.S. preferably but I’ll take anything.
