If anyone needs a ride from the Chicago area, I'll be going up on the 16th/17th. I have a Jeep and I can hold 4. I ask for nothing more than food, gas money, or a good singer who doesn't mind ska and trip hop. Other than that, anything goes.

Still more:

South African Resistance

Will be exploring the socio-political context of Southern Africa's relation to the first world. From models of resistance to the revolution of everday life, the need for internationalism is now more pressing than ever from which we hope to offer perspectives of co-operation.

Anti-Semitism and Crisis:

An exploration of anti-semitism as a mystified 'half-way' critique of capitalism and what that means in the context of current and future crises. A critical look at leftist and anarchist obsession with Israel. A proposal for developing an anti-nationalist critique and understanding of class domination as the unconscious and inevitable result of the capitalist economy. An attack against personified and conspiratorial understandings of economic forces.

Guy-necology: Examining Sexual Issues for Men

This will be a group discussion on sex, sexiness, and sexual issues for men and male identified folk. We will look at what it means to be and become a man in our society. Since our gender grants us power and privilege in our everyday relationships, we'll talk about that. Is there an alpha male in your circle of friends? Why do men often opt out of the birth control process? During this workshop we will examine multiple aspects of masculinity. It will be open for personal stories on the above, sexually transmitted infections, sex, sexual desires, acceptable flirtation, and more. I invite you to step out of your comfort zone and into the Guy-necology zone
________________________________________________________________

Also expect presentations from the RNC Welcoming Committee, a lecture on the history of indigenous and radical resistance in Wisconsin, a report back from the G8 protests in Germany (and perhaps from Japan as well), a discussion of "the anarchist university" and what the fuck that would look like, jogging, an edible plants walking tour, and a host of other edutaining offerings.

More workshops:

1)Gender Dynamics and how they shape Anarchist groups

Mainly this would be a co-ed discussion that would focus on how,
regardless or not if we consider ourselves anarchists, we need to
constantly address issues of heterosexist and chauvinistic behavior in our
organizing circles. We would like to see a developing level of
accountability that internal power dynamics still exist in our groups and
that we need to have constant discussions on how to better address them,
hold people accountable and unlearn all of this patriarchal behavior that
we've been born into since day one.

This discussion would be somewhat facilitated, but hopefully would turn
into an organic discussion group using a fishbowl method for conversation
starters (i.e., womyn would sit in the inside and talk and then
male-bodied individuals would sit on the outside AND vis-versa).

AND

2)How womyn can become better in touch with their bodies

This part of the workshop would be for female-identified individuals only
speaking inside of the fishbowl (with males or male-identified on the
outside). It would contain information and discussion on womyn's
reproductive health and how we can better harmonize with our bodies, our
cycles and the moon. We want this discussion to be productive and not
destructive or critical. The main part of this section would be to
acknowledge the disengagement womyn experience living in this culture and
how we need to break away from that by knowing our bodies and each other
better.

Reports from CrimethInc. agents already on site suggest that COPIOUS QUANTITIES OF BUG REPELLENT should be brought by everyone.

Additionally, there is a lake on-site, so PREPARE TO DO SOME SWIMMING.

And, please be sure to READ OVER THE POLICIES and check back here for updates.

Some confirmed workshops:

-Trannies and Queers Bash Back!: A presentation about what radical transfolk and queers have been up to and are planning for the conventions. Also a discussion of tactics for combating street violence and building communities prepared to destroy the culture that leads to it.

-Sex Work: A discussion about the role of sex work in our society

-Being Better Dudes: A discussion for Male identified people to discuss patriarchy and to deconstruct the hierarchies associated with gender. Anyone is welcome.

-Projectiles 101: How to build basic projectiles, such as confetti canons and slings.

-Intoxication Culture: A continuation of a discussion at last year's convergence. A discussion about sobriety and consent in radical culture surrounding the topic of intoxication. This will be facilitated from both a sober and non-sober perspective.
