The New Book Has a Title

erbookmarka.jpg

Expect Resistance: a crimethink field manual is the title of our new book, which is about two weeks away from shipping. The above photo is of the free bookmark we printed up on our letterpress this weekend, celebrating the book’s release, that will come with the first 500 individual orders—we can’t predict the future but we expect them to run out well before the first month is up. Note that the subtitle for the book is actually wrong on the card—totally my fuck-up, what can I say? I blame it on Lisa and Laycie making 4,000 cookies the day I sent the design to the platemaker, and me eating 3,998 of them. That much sugar can make a person do crazy things, like not remember the name of the book they’ve been working on for months.

So will the book be avaible to order from ordinary online bookshops like amazon? The other crimethinc books have I ordered from a swedish one calle http://www.adlibris.se but I cant find this book there, so.. is it going to be distributed like all the other crimethinc books? or is it only thru this site?

Hey elod,

Yes, the book will be available through all the regular channels, though it may take a while for them to trickle into place, as the traditional book industry is unbelievably inefficient at what they do. I imagine that even with the high cost of shipping, the book will probably be cheapest from us (thanks to the extremely weak american dollar) or Active distribution in London who will be receiving several hundred as soon as they are printed.

What script font is that?

The font is an amazing work of art called Burgues Script. In addition to overall beauty, it also supplies several alternate forms for each character so you can really customize your letters to fit each word and situation.

I love the typeface. It looks beautiful. Beautiful artwork and title.

I’m really looking forward to this… Will there be pre-orders for the book?

pfm said,

hey casey,

sadly, no, we won’t be doing pre-orders for the book. As soon as the books ship to us, we’ll know for sure when they will arrive and we’ll probably start taking orders three days before that arrival date, which technically will be pre-orders, but that’s not how we’ll refer to them. keeping track of pre-orders is just more effort than it’s worth and we’re always reluctant to take money for stuff we don’t actually have yet.

what’s the status of rt number 5?

Rolling Thunder #5 is unforgivably late, it’s true. Almost all the material is finished for it, and it’s entering the design phase. My guess is it won’t come out until 2008, but with any luck it’ll come out in the first days of that year. I’m really excited about the content of this issue–having the extra time to perfect things hasn’t hurt at all.

how much is this book gonna run me? any ideas on the price yet?

pfm said,

November 23, 2007 @ 11:08 am

hey xJx, I do in fact have an idea on the price. $8 for one copy, and $5 for 10+, plus shipping. we’re pretty happy about being able to keep it that low.

and Jayray, as for the next DVD set, nothing going on there at the moment, but it is still on the list of projects. we’re always open for leads on main features to include in the release.

i’m glad you didn’t have to raise the cost since Days of War, Nights of Love. to be fair, i probably would’ve bought it anyway. i might have missed it, but is there an actual date that this is set to be released, or still just the tentative December that i read a while back. to be fair, that could mean 8 days from now–which would be awesome! haha.

NOTE: as of Jan 8th, sadly, these bookmarks are all gone. thanks so much to the 500 people who ordered the books so quickly (with almost half of the orders being for multiple books!) and helped us pay off some massive printing bills in a timely manner.
