Desperately Seeking Under the Lens

under_small.jpgDistraught CrimethInc. workers are desperately seeking a copy of Under The Lens Of The People: Our Account Of The Peoples’ Resistance To The FTAA, Quebec City, April 2001, which we need to proceed with our current epic publishing project. If anyone has a copy of this book or knows where one can be found, please get in touch with us (pfm@crimethinc.com) immediately. Borrowing it—or perhaps even receiving top-quality scans of pages over the internet—would probably suffice. We really count on the international network for help with challenges like this. Thanks so much in advance! [Yes, we know Amazon and AK Press both list it as available—it's not.]

i have should also be able to get a copy of this from the library and do some scanning, i’m not sure the quality of my scanner but i believe it is pretty good. are there any specific chapters or sections you require because that would make it much easier?

Ok folks, we’ve had several generous people offer to get it from their local library, which is awesome. hopefully one of these will come to fruition, so let’s hold off on anymore library offers for the moment. we’d still love to hear from people who own the book or know for certain some real place where one is for sale (as opposed to the phantom internet listing which all have proven to not actually have the book). thanks!

I called Tower. Though it’s not currently “in stock”, they’ll order it–will take 2-4 weeks. Hope that helps.

hey @dam, thanks for calling around. sadly, this is very common. after 4 weeks they would call and say it is backordered. i can assure everyone that despite being listed as available from many online bookstores, it is, in fact, not available and has been out of print for years. The book industry is still a decade behind the times and considers it a good sales tactic to always say things are available just to get you to enter a ‘dialogue’ with them and stop looking elsewhere. idiotic, but true.

There’s what looks like a real, live copy offered for $36 by a seller on Alibris. Check out http://www.alibris.com/search/detail.cfm?BID=9200951939

hey twinkler, trust me, it’s not. see above post. all these things people are seeing are related to amazon (and/or ak press) listing it in their databases. these middlemen would just get it from them to sell to us, except their sources don’t actually have it even though they say they do.

please, no more links to online sellers. from here on out we’re just trying to locate people who have the book in their possession or have put eyeballs on a physical copy. thanks everyone!
