RT is a collaborative effort involving many people including us here in Salem. However, the editorial heart is based in North Carolina.

Also, for those keeping track, RT4 is still about one week away from being ready to send out, there were printing delays entirely beyond our control.

Understand if you don't want to broadcast that. Secure e-mail: phmadore@riseup.net. I would really like to have a few different conversations with some of you guys I'm presuming/hoping would be there. I'll probably be there in Salem (west coast generally) by the end of the year.

Sincerely,
P. H. M.

Hey, I thought Rolling Thunder was produced by the North Carolina cell? Also, when someone comes to Salem, how do they go about making a visit to this wonderful workshop? Thanks.

Thanks so much! Yeah, we'd like more of a permanent space, so we're probably going to end up paying for it. Reclaimed space is really, really tough to do here, as far as buildings go, anyway. We're also thinking of getting the place funded through grants/donations, as a "community action resource and social center". Hopefully by next year we'll have a wonderful center for radical activities, radical info, and radical sleeping, when necessary.

Thanks again! Take care!

(PS- How did you know it was my birthday when you sent that one package??)

hi coyote, we don't mind the question at all. we got the space we're in by paying for it. simple as that. reclaimed spaces have a lot of good uses but running a large literature distribution out of them is not one—at any given time we have 10,000 plus books/magazines/dvds/etc. here as well as a variety of computers and other tools of the trade, and we use up about 2,000 square feet just for the distribution and production side of things, including our letterpressing area. it would not be a wise move to have that much stuff in an illegal space, and especially not this particular stuff, if you know what i mean—we're not eager to given anyone an excuse to come down on us. one of the reasons we moved to salem was to capitalize on its under-valued real estate which has enabled us to keep our overhead as low as possible. good luck with finding a space with your activities, hopefully some people reading this blog will have some good tips for you. there is also an excellent article in the upcoming issue of Rolling Thunder dealing with some squatters' experiences in Buffalo that may be of help to you.

If you don't mind my asking... how did you get that beautiful space you're in?? Us folks in this city are currently craving a space, but there is no abandonment to be found, and prices keep going up... If anybody else reading this knows a good way to find a place for regular revolutionary rendezvous and food not bombs cookin....(as well as to sleep in once in a while!), we'd love it if you sent your ideas!!
