Seen Any Good Anarchist Films Lately?

As we slowly creep toward a highly anticipated autumn, I am starting to get some new projects lined up, one of which is our next DVD release, to be called, suprisingly, CrimethInc. Guerilla Film Series Volume 2. So far I have a couple films in mind and one or two locked up, but there are still many slots open as I’d like for this to be another two-disc set (or maybe three?). So, I thought I’d ask all of you if you have any recommendations of anarchist films you have seen recently, or even not so recently, that you think are underseen and/or lacking robust distribution (even if a film has been released as its own DVD, let us know about it as it could still be included). Titles and contact information would be appreciated, as well as summaries and why you think they should be included. We are looking for all types of pieces from documentaries both short and feature length, as well as fictional works. Ten years old or unreleased, as long as it is quality and something people need to see, we’re interested.

Leave your suggestions in the comments or email pfm@crimethinc.com. Thanks!

XVX, if you think that is important to include, I’d highly suggest you find some good content that would be a proper fit for our project and post that information here. thanks.

As far as animal liberation videos go, the old SHAC-USA film ‘Strike Back’ is well done. The european group Roots of Compassion (www.rootsofcompassion.org) put together a DVD of animal lib videos from around the world that might be worth taking something from.

‘Finally Got the News’ about the Detroit Revolutionary Union Movement would be a neat addition.

The Russian ALF Supporters Group - http://www.aeliberation.net - puts tons of videos online of kids in Russia raiding fur farms, fucking up furriers, etc. These can be found on youtube.com if that site is too hard to navigate.

I think it would be cool to include video footage of “crimethinc bands” - Zegota, Catharsis, Requiem, Blacken the Skies, etc - performing live.

We have been gathering many videos from all over at:

http://egodiversion.co.nr/

Most of them is from flash converting sites like youtube and googlevideo.
But due to recent features, they can be downloaded to use for projects.

Hilarious local news coverage of art destruction… and anarchists who want to “attack the current social order”.

Rod Coronado: For Liberation.

I’ll try and find a better version than YouTube, but here’s the link anyway:

I’ll check to see if Behind the Mask has a good quality copy of this clip.

laughing_fien: I uploaded much of Society of the Spectacle to google video. Others have since uploaded the whole film (in two parts) as well as other Guy Debord footage. Check it out!

“As far as animal liberation videos go, the old SHAC-USA film ‘Strike Back’ is well done. ”

Actually, if it’s the one I’ve seen, I think this movie is ass. It doesn’t really explain much and the terrible techno is suicide inducing. Which is such a shame because the SHAC campaign has so many lessons to be learned from it and needs much support. A good 1 hour doco on SHAC, that explains the tactics in such a way that it is accessible to the general public would be an excellent resource.
The closest thing that I’ve found is this quite short Refusing To Be Silent. It has no “action footage” but it’s quite insightful and may fit in some where.
